FEBRUARY 8 – SUNDAY
Join us for an unforgettable hiking adventure in Greece, exploring one of the most beautiful mountain trails in Arcadia, on the eastern slopes of Mount Parnon. This scenic hike combines pristine nature, cultural heritage, and authentic Greek mountain hospitality.
The Hiking Route
Our hike begins at the Holy Monastery of Panagia Malevi, a historic Byzantine monastery dating back to the 8th century and one of the most important religious landmarks in the Peloponnese. The trail passes through the unique cedar forest of Malevi, the only natural cedar forest in Europe, officially protected as a Natural Monument.
As we follow the well-marked hiking path, we walk through dense forests of fir trees, chestnuts, and walnut trees, enjoying panoramic mountain views and the peaceful atmosphere of the Parnonas mountain range. With a moderate elevation gain, this trail is ideal for hikers with basic experience and good physical condition.
Destination: Agios Petros Arcadia
Our final destination is Agios Petros Village, located at an altitude of 952 meters, one of the most picturesque and traditional villages in Arcadia. Stone-built houses, narrow cobblestone streets, and preserved architecture create an authentic mountain setting.
In the village square stands the impressive Church of Saints Peter and Paul, while nearby you can visit the historic Trikalitis Tower, a cultural landmark dating back to the 17th century, now functioning as a cultural center.
Food, Tradition & Celebration
After completing the hike, we will enjoy traditional Greek food at a local tavern in Agios Petros, tasting authentic Arcadian cuisine made with local products.
We will also celebrate by cutting our traditional New Year’s pie (Vasilopita), with surprises and gifts for all participants, making this hiking trip not only an outdoor activity but a memorable social experience.
